Lake Murray Community Park (5540 Kiowa Dr, La Mesa, CA 91942) wraps around a 170-acre reservoir in the La Mesa–San Carlos border corridor and is one of the most popular group event locations in East County — fishing tournaments, corporate team-building days, and large family reunion picnics all book the ramadas here months in advance. The reservoir also hosts a popular Fourth of July fireworks show that draws thousands from across East County and overwhelms the limited parking on Kiowa Drive and Murray Park Drive. A charter bus for a Fourth of July outing at Lake Murray parks at the perimeter staging area, drops the group, and avoids the two-hour post-fireworks gridlock on Lake Murray Drive and College Avenue.
